Water is essential to mental health and wellbeing – Drink Up!

Hydration is very important to our mind and bodies. Especially during this summer heat. Check out these facts about the importance of hydration and tips for staying hydrated this summer.

It is recommended that women consume approximately 9 cups a day and men approximately 13 cups.

Mild Dehydration may result in: Irritability, restlessness, weakness, poor concentration, feeling sick.

Severe Dehydration may result in: Low blood pressure, fainting, muscle contractions, heart failure in some cases

Other Sources of Hydration:

Coconut Water

  • Coconut water is nature’s sports drink. It is rich in electrolytes and potassium for refreshing, energizing hydration.

  • The electrolytes in coconut water can help replenish energy, build lean muscles and help lower blood pressure.

Watermelon

  • This summer time favorite is 92% water

  • Watermelon has the highest content of the cancer fighting antioxidant, lycopene, than any other fruit or vegetable.

  • Watermelon is also rich in Vitamin A, B6 & C for healthy eyes, healthy teeth, brain health, detoxification, immunity and energy.

Other fruits including strawberries, grapefruit and cantaloupe are hydrating also!

This cooler is a refreshing sweet treat to beat the summer heat! This recipe is vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free so it is easy on the stomach.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cubed watermelon

  • 5 frozen strawberries

  • ½ cup coconut water

Instructions:

  • Add all ingredients to a blender

  • Blend until smooth

  • Enjoy!
